ABOUT HYALURONIC ACID DERMAL FILLERS

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin known for its hydrating properties. These fillers can help to restore lost volume, enhance soft tissues, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, offering a fuller look to lips, cheeks, chin, and other facial areas.

How Dermal Fillers Work

During your consultation, our experienced practitioners will assess your skin, facial structure, and aesthetic goals to help determine which dermal filler may be best suited for your needs. The selected filler is injected into the targeted areas, aiming to add volume and smooth lines and wrinkles. While individual results vary, many patients achieve a more refreshed appearance with minimal downtime.

What to Expect

The duration of the dermal filler procedure typically ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the areas being treated. Some mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site is common but generally resolves within a few days. Results are often visible immediately, with improvements continuing over the next 2-3 weeks as the filler integrates with your skin. Depending on the type of filler used and the area treated, results can last between 6 to 24 months. For the best experience, follow all aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner.

What it is

Sculptra is a biostimulatory filler. Unlike true dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm, which contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, the ingredients in Sculptra help stimulate your body's natural collagen production process to gradually add volume over time. By targeting collagen production at the source, Sculptra addresses the underlying causes of skin concerns like fine lines and facial sagging instead of simply treating the symptoms.

How it works

Once injected into the dermis, Sculptra helps to restore the skin's inner structure via fibroblasts, types of cells that secrete collagen to strengthen the connective tissues that give the face structure. It continues to promote and enhance natural collagen production over time to improve skin texture, correct deep lines and wrinkles, and increase facial volume.

Sculptra treatment involves a series of injections over two to three sessions, spaced between four and six weeks apart. It's commonly injected with a thin cannula for less bruising and more comfort and requires a minor massage for five minutes, five times per day for five days post-treatment. Because Sculptra naturally plumps and tightens at the source, it offers more natural-looking results that last three to five times longer than traditional fillers.

What to Expect

You will start to see the results of Sculptra injections within three to six months, beginning after your first treatment session and continuing through a few months after your last. After the full series of two to three sessions, Sculptra results can last for up to two years, though you may want a touch-up before then to continue promoting collagen production.
